I have looked a bit into frontal lobe syndromes, and the social (pragmatic) difficulties along with the Executive Dysfunction also exist in ASDs as well!

The aetiology of the symptomatic dysfunctions in ASDs would probably be congenital/developmental however, as opposed to Frontal Lobe Syndromes that are often due to strokes or physical trauma later on in life.

I have contacted Dr. Fitzgerald at Alfred Psych regarding the similarities, and he said that it was an interesting observation, and that they'll be examining the white matter connections of ASD brains (from MRI imaging) later on.Kenhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/18388572546699278852noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7008370623551335527.post-45616914843756424332011-10-11T20:10:09.567+11:002011-10-11T20:10:09.567+11:00Interestingly, since you mention Broca's area,...Interestingly, since you mention Broca's area, I've noticed lots of research out there about the similarities between ASDs and frontal lobe syndromes.

Enjoying reading your blog about the clinical phase of your course - thanks!InkBlothttps://www.blogger.com/profile/06286991346407398195noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7008370623551335527.post-91964072354820225752011-08-11T21:54:03.845+10:002011-08-11T21:54:03.845+10:00Hi Ken,

Who knows, that actually works too. I'm severely skeptic about this and need a whole lot more convincing then 10 volunteers.

It's just way to complex an issue, to me it seems snake oily it'd be just 'cured' by an emf.

The enormous amount of factors involved......

Personally i've never had any eyecontact issues, exactly the opposite in fact.

From what i learned reading the 1000's of posts by HFA's eyecontact is a hit and miss thing in the first place.

I have come to the conclusion that the diagnostic criteria manuals are seriously erroneous. So going out to 'cure' a symptom when you can't even 100% ascertain the people involved actually have said affliction since the affliction is ill-defined any results are meaningless and merely selfconfirming.Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7008370623551335527.post-73381572372001482732011-07-31T13:14:52.875+10:002011-07-31T13:14:52.875+10:00It's really interesting to read about what'...It's really interesting to read about what's it's like to start the clinical part of your course. One cannot blame the main stream psychiatry for having constructed them, but one sure can blame them for refusing to accept that the concepts therein are mostly unscientific, circular proven, confirmational bias laden observational theories.

Paper after paper surfaces using modern techniques showing that in fact most separate 'disorders' are just expressions of the subtle changes white matter variations can cause during the development of the brain.
